Another record has been broken by the England striker, as he scores his eleventh World Cup goal, overtaking Gary Lineker’s record. The goal took his tally to eleven goals and also put him at eighteen goals in major international tournaments for England.
How Kane Became a World Cup Legend For England
His total now stands at 82 goals in 117 appearances for England, which is well out ahead of any other English player. He is still behind Cristiano Ronaldo, who has scored 145 goals, and Messi, with 125 goals. Kane scored just 80 seconds on his debut for England back in 2016, before breaking Wayne Rooney’s record in March 2023 when he scored his 54th goal.
This was Harry Kane’s third World Cup, and he matched David Beckham’s record of scoring at three different World Cup tournaments. Kane claimed the Golden Boot at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where he scored six times, and also scored twice at the Qatar World Cup in 2022.
