Xabi Alonso and Chelsea would like to bring the experienced John Stones to Stamford Bridge after a decade at Man City. Chelsea would be hoping centre-back Stones will have the same type of impact Thiago Silva had when he arrived back in 2020 aged 35. Stones is one of many centre-backs Chelsea are looking at to rebuild their backline.

The former Everton defender, now 32, will be taking a break after appearing at the World Cup for England, before deciding on his future. Stones is an attractive signing as he is a free agent, so there will be no transfer fee involved. Arsenal are reportedly also interested in Stones, who has injury concerns involving William Saliba.
John Stones would add valuable leadership qualities to any backline, and that is something Chelsea require. Stones, who lifted 15 trophies while at City and also has 94 caps for England, has seen and done it all. Wherever John Stones ends up, he will certainly make the team better.
