Xabi Alonso knows all about Granit Xhaka, as he was his player at Bayern Leverkusen when Alonso was manager. He sees Granit as an experienced player with a fantastic attitude around the dressing room. At 33 years of age, Xhaka would be a squad player, but his work ethic and leadership skills are seen as very important to the young Chelsea squad.
Sunderland Do Not Want To Sell
Even though Granit Xhaka is open to the move to West London, Sunderland are keen on keeping their club captain on Wearside. Sunderland have Xhaka under contract until 2028, so they will not make it easy for Chelsea. On the other side, Chelsea will be reluctant to pay a big fee for a player who turns 34 in September.
In other transfer news, Chelsea have turned down an offer of £22 million from Italian side Como for Trevoh Chalobah. Chelsea are reported to want at least £35 million for the defender. While Chelsea look like they are closing in on a deal to sign Marco Palestra for around £47 million from Cagliari.
