Enzo Maresca was assistant coach to Pep Guardiola when Man City won the treble in the 2022-2023 season. After three years away from the football club, he returns as their manager in the upcoming 2026-2027 season. At 46 years of age, Maresca took his first head coach role in 2021, and now jumps into the hot seat at Man City. He has big boots to fill as Guardiola won 20 trophies in a decade at the club.

Maresca is The Man City Chosen One

After signing a three-year contract, Maresca has been brought in to keep Man City playing the same way. Working under Pep, Maresca understands the philosophy of possession football and wants the club to continue in the same way. Enzo is someone who likes to gather knowledge from other sports like basketball and volleyball. He has been studying Artificial Intelligence and has only watched one live game since he left Chelsea in January 2026.

It is clear Enzo Maresca is a deep-thinking man. Someone who likes to be prepared, and this is what Man City like about him. Enzo will bring in his assistants, Caballero and Danny Walker, in the hope of continuing Guardiola’s success.
