Switzerland’s 2-0 win over Algeria in Vancouver sets up a last-16 clash with either Ghana or Colombia on Tuesday. Goals from Breel Embolo and Nottingham Forest’s Dan Ndoye made history for Switzerland as they reached the last 16. Algeria started well but Switzerland defended former Man City and Algerian star player Mahrez, tightly, not allowing him any space to create anything.
Manzambi Shows Why Newcastle Are Interested
Johan Manzambi showed why Premier League club Newcastle are keen on bringing him into their team. The Switzerland forward has already been a star this tournament, scoring three goals in the group stages. Manzambi is also the youngest player at 20 to reach five goal involvements in World Cup history.
He set up the opening goal for Embolo, and every time he had the ball at his feet, he looked dangerous. The Freiburg winger looks every penny of the £42 million he is rated. If he ends up playing at St James Park, the Geordie fans are in for a treat.
