Norway’s Erling Haaland will face off against Premier League rival Gabriel in New Jersey tonight. These two rivals have been battling against each other for their club sides, Man City and Arsenal, over the last few seasons. Earlier this year in April, Haaland said the Arsenal defender should have been sent off after they squared up to each other following Man City’s 2-1 win; both players were booked.Â
Bitter RivalsÂ
When they face each other wearing their nation’s colours, the rivalry is set to be just as fierce. Haaland will be aiming to do what he does best, and that is score goals, while Gabriel’s job is to prevent him in any way possible. Pep Guardiola shared:
I’m surprised how Haaland controls his emotions. It is not easy when you are playing 90 minutes against Gabriel; the defender pushes him, hugs him, hacks him, kisses him, and all that. At the end, he’s a human being; he has to react.
There is no doubt that when Brazil plays Norway, there will be a physical battle every time the ball gets played into Haaland. This battle could determine who heads into the quarter-finals.Â
