Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane were on the score sheet as England would not be denied against Mexico in an impressive 3-2 win. England had to show great resilience in defence as they booked their place in the quarter-finals of the World Cup. Two goals from Jude Bellingham put England in control, then Mexico got one back from Julian Quinones, before Harry Kane added to his World Cup total from the penalty spot.
Fortress Azteca is Broken by England
Mexico had an incredible record at the Azteca Stadium, but England made sure it was broken with their performance. Every player put their body on the line after Jarell Quansah’s red card in the 54th minute and the score at 2-1. Harry Kane scored his penalty in the 60th minute to give England a 3-1 lead before Raul Jimenez scored nine minutes later.
That created an exciting thirty minutes with England playing with only 10 men. Every England player ran themselves into the ground to prevent Mexico from getting the equalizer. Even at altitude and their lungs burning, England showed they are willing to do whatever it takes to win.
