The World champions take on Egypt at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Tuesday for a place in the quarter-finals. There will be two world-class goal scorers playing for both teams: Lionel Messi, the competition’s top scorer, and Egyptian icon Mohammed Salah. There is no question that Egypt are the underdogs for this match, but in the World Cup anything is possible.

    Current Form

Argentina have won four out of four this tournament, with Messi being the composer of the orchestra. The current champions beat Algeria 3-0, Austria 2-0 and Jordan 3-1 in the group stage. They then managed to claw their way to a 3-2 victory over Cape Verde in the last 32.

Egypt drew with both Belgium and Iran and beat New Zealand 3-1 in the group stage. They beat Australia on penalties last time out to reach the last 16.

    Our Prediction for the Game

We expect Egypt to defend with numbers and try to get something from a counter-attack or set piece. Argentina are World champions for a reason; they know how to win matches. With Messi in fine form, we expect Argentina to score at least two and go through.
