Spain and Belgium face each other at the quarter-final stage of the 2026 World Cup. Both teams have strong, talented players with lots of experience. Spain are the only team in World Cup history to go six successive games without conceding a goal. It will be hard work for Belgium to try and unlock the stiff Spanish defence. Belgium made easy work of the USA team in the last round as they knocked four past them.

    Head to Head

Spain and Belgium have met several times in international tournaments, and Spain has the advantage. Belgium famously beat Spain in the 1986 World Cup quarter-finals in a penalty shootout to reach their first-ever World Cup semi-final. The following World Cup in 1990, Spain gained revenge, beating Belgium in the group stage 2-1. Over recent years, Spain have dominated this fixture, beating Belgium in several WC qualifiers.

    Our Prediction for the Game

Spain are the European champions for good reason; they are currently the finest national team in Europe. We expect Spain to beat Belgium; their defence is too strong, and their midfield will control the game.
