The midfield player has been given the green light to travel to Manchester to have a medical after Chelsea and Manchester United agreed a deal worth £50 million for the Brazilian. The deal is thought to be a £48 million up-front payment with £2 million in add-ons. Chelsea have also put in a 10% sell-on clause in Santos’ contract.
United Buy Another Midfielder to Add to Their Squad
Santos’ career has not been straightforward at Chelsea; he was put on loan to Nottingham Forest for the 2024/25 season, but he lacked game time, and Chelsea recalled him in Jan 2024. Santos missed out on Ancelotti’s Brazilian squad but is still a highly rated prospect at only 22 years of age.
This move is the third departure of a Chelsea player this summer transfer window, generating £126 million for the club. Xabi Alonso is looking to bring in new players as he tries to mould the squad in his image. Manchester United will be happy to have another midfield player through the door as they have Champions League football next season and more games.
