On June 2nd, Man Utd agreed to pay £35 million for Brazil international Ederson. Because Ederson was taken to the World Cup with Brazil, Man Utd had to wait until Brazil were eliminated from the tournament to complete a medical on the player. Medical reports have suggested there is an issue with the player. Both clubs have denied this is the case.
Man Utd’s Summer Transfer Gets Even More Difficult
After losing out on Elliot Anderson to Man City and Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham, Man Utd have had a challenging transfer window so far. If reports are correct and Ederson has now fallen through, it will be another setback for the club. With the deal for Santos agreed and goalkeeper Darlow coming in from Leeds, they have signed two players thus far.
But with the midfield being a weak spot for the club and Casemiro leaving in the summer, another midfield option is required. It is also worth remembering that Manuel Ugarte suffered a serious injury while playing for Uruguay at the World Cup, and looks to be out for a while. This leaves Man Utd fans in limbo on Ederson and whether this signing will get done or not.
