Andrey Santos made his first appearance for Man Utd in Helsinki against Wrexham in a loss. Man Utd lost the match 1-0 in a disappointing performance, but Santos looked bright. Sam Smith scored the only goal of the game for Wrexham six minutes before half-time. Man Utd were without players who featured at the World Cup, including Yuri Tielemans and Sesko. Michael Carrick still started with a strong eleven in front of the 20,000 fans.
Slow Start to Pre-Season For the Red Devils
Andrey Santos started the match in the centre of midfield with Mason Mount. Santos received praise from Man Utd manager Carrick, who said:
He’s a fantastic character, he’s settled in so quickly, and he’s buzzing to be here.
The 22-year-old Brazilian international showed a good range of passing and won duels in a busy display.Â
At half-time, Carrick changed the entire eleven and brought on academy players for the second half. Man Utd dominated possession but could not create a clear chance. It took until the 78th minute when Ethan Wheatley had the first shot on target for Utd. A disappointing result for Man Utd, but there is more to come from this team in pre-season.
