Now Cape Verde sits third in their group, level on points with Uruguay. Because this year’s World Cup has a new format, Cape Verde has a decent chance of making it through to the knockout rounds. Their final Group H match will be against Saudi Arabia on Saturday, who also drew with Uruguay and got hammered by Spain 4-0.
If Cape Verde beat Saudi Arabia, they will go through and will be the third lowest-ranked team to get through to the knockout stages of the World Cup.
