Chelsea have sacked Liam Rosenior after just three months in charge, the club confirmed via their official channels.
The Blues said the decision was not taken lightly, but admitted recent results and performances have fallen below expectations.
The decision follows Tuesday night’s 3–0 defeat to Brighton, a result that leaves Chelsea facing an uphill battle in the race for Champions League qualification.
Rosenior departs after a run of five consecutive Premier League defeats without scoring, ending his brief spell in charge.
Calum McFarlane will take interim charge for the remainder of the season, supported by the existing coaching staff, as Chelsea continue their push for European qualification and a spot in the FA Cup final.
The club have already begun the search for a new manager and are expected to make a long-term appointment following an internal review.
Chelsea currently sit seventh in the table with four games remaining. They also meet Leeds United in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley this weekend.
