Yoane Wissa scored a brace for Congo as they came from behind to beat Uzbekistan 3-1 in Atlanta. DR Congo made history as it was the first time the country reached the last 32 of the World Cup. Uzbekistan got off to a great start when Eldor Shomurodov lobbed the goalkeeper and put Uzbekistan 1-0 up. Wissa equalised from the penalty spot and ended the night with a second in stoppage time and a 3-1 win.Â
Now It’s England in The Next Round
DR Congo’s progress in the World Cup has illustrated how good African sides are now. There could be up to nine African teams through to the last 32 round for the first time in history. They will now challenge England on Wednesday, July 1st in the Atlanta Stadium. They will certainly have their work cut out to beat one of the favourites for the tournament, England, but Congo will leave it all on the pitch.
If Congo shows the fight and pride they did against Uzbekistan, England will have to be switched on.Â
