Manchester United remain confident they will still sign Brazilian midfielder Ederson after rumours the deal is off. The structure of the £39 million deal, as well as personal terms, have been agreed, and Man Utd are expected to complete the move later this month. Ederson, who is 27 on Tuesday, has had an initial medical check, but now Brazil have been eliminated from the World Cup, United will put him through a full medical at Carrington.

Things can start moving faster now the Brazilian national team have been knocked out of the World Cup, as Ederson was a member of the squad. An agreement was reached with Italian side Atalanta in June to pay £35 million, plus £3.8 million in add-ons for the Brazilian box-to-box midfielder.
Man Utd are still interested in signing another midfield player but have been put off by the over-inflated prices for ex-West Ham player Mateus Fernandes and former Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali.
