You guessed it: Erling Haaland scored again to help Norway beat Senegal in New Jersey and head into the knockout rounds. Haaland’s goals mean he is Norway’s record scorer in World Cup history, scoring twice as many as any other player. Norway were ahead right on half-time with a goal from Marcus Pedersen, then Haaland made it two in the 48th minute.

Haaland has now scored in 12 consecutive competitive matches for Norway, hitting at least two goals in each of the past six matches. This is Haaland’s first-ever World Cup, and it is like he was born to play on this stage. Haaland has now scored four goals in the tournament, and with at least two more games for Norway, we expect more to come.
He was quiet for much of the first half, but coming out for the second, Haaland showed his class. The only surprise was that he did not manage to score a hat-trick, but there is plenty more time for that.
