Roberto De Zerbi seems to have got his man in Mateus Fernandes from West Ham. The Portugal international wants a new challenge after West Ham got relegated last season, and Spurs are his destination. Fernandes will have a medical before signing the contract; it is Spurs’ third signing of the summer after Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton and Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth.
Man Utd Left Disappointed After Fernandes Picks Tottenham
Manchester United were expected to gain the signature of Fernandes this summer after the player showed interest in joining. But West Ham slapped a high price, and Spurs were the only team willing to meet that price. The sale of Fernandes will be the highest made by a Championship team.
West Ham will now try to recoup the money they get from Fernandes to strengthen their team and get back to the Premier League. West Ham are also expected to lose Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville, who has a number of Premier League clubs interested in signing him.
