The speculation is now over: Zinedine Zidane has signed to become the head coach of the French international team. The French legend has signed a contract until mid 2030, as reported by Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. Zidane, who is 54, will take over from Didier Deschamps, who has been leading the French side for fourteen years.
French Legend Returns to Football
Zinedine Zidane moved back into football coaching after his successful spells at Real Madrid, where he was coach between 2016 and 2018, then 2019 and 2021. Zidane was coach when Madrid lifted the UEFA Champions League three consecutive times as well as winning La Liga twice.
Zidane will have the respect of the French players as he has won numerous titles as a player, such as the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 titles. He also lifted the Champions League as a player in 2002 for Madrid.
His career ended in the World Cup final of 2006 when he was famously sent off for headbutting Italian defender Marco Materazzi. Zidane will be hoping to bring glory back to French international football with the new generation of players he has at his disposal.
