    • Carlos Alcaraz is in brilliant form as he defeats world number 4 Fritz in straight sets.
    • World Number 1 Alcaraz continued his excellent season with another title by beating Taylor Fritz for his first-ever Japan Open title.

Carlos Alcaraz beat Fritz to gain an impressive eighth title of this spectacular season. The world number 1 is now a step closer to ending the year at the top of the ATP rankings.

The world’s number 1, Carlos Alcaraz, has beaten Taylor Fritz 6-4,6-4 at the Japan Open to cap an impressive season so far. This victory means Alcaraz has won his eighth ATP ranking event of the season. The Spaniard twisted his ankle in his first round match in Tokyo, but it did not stop him. Alcaraz showed no signs of injury during the final and broke Fritz for 5-4 and then served for the first set.

Alcaraz was in fantastic form, showcasing a variety of top-quality shots, overpowering Fritz in every department. After his first Japan Open title victory, Alcaraz announced he will withdraw from the Shanghai Masters due to injury. The Spaniard has played 14 tournaments this season and has contested more matches than anyone in the ATP top 10.
